Common questions
Why is the picture black and white during a quiz?
The color shows the article, so the quiz hides it. After your answer, the article and color appear. Try it on the method page.
I cannot hear the pronunciation.
Tap sound on a learning card or after a quiz answer. Check volume, headphones and Bluetooth output. In the app, check sound in Settings. On the website, check your connection and allow audio. If it still fails, email us the noun and device details.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The iPhone and iPad app includes the pictures and audio for its lessons. External links need internet access. The website needs an internet connection.
Where is my progress saved?
Progress stays in the app or browser you use and does not sync to other devices. If progress is missing, check that you are using the same app or browser profile. Private browsing, cleared site data or deleting the app can remove progress. See Privacy.
How do I add words to “My words”?
Complete a daily lesson to add its words to My words immediately. A custom teacher lesson also adds its words if every answer is correct on the first pass, with no retries or skipped words. Saved words stay in My words and remain in the review schedule. Category quizzes do not add words.
How do I review My words?
My words selects up to 10 saved words, with due or harder words first. Study their cards, then answer a quiz. Reviews still use spaced practice.
Why does a category quiz use only ten words?
Each round randomly chooses up to 10 nouns from the category. Start another round for a new selection. Learn shows the full category.
How do I share a lesson with my class?
Open For teachers. Choose nouns, enter a title and copy the link. Share it with your students. No account is needed. Keep personal details out of the title.
Can I see my students' scores?
No. Lesson links share words, but do not send answers or scores to the teacher. Each student practises in their own browser.
A teacher link will not open.
Copy the whole link, including the part after #. Ask the teacher for a new copy if it was cut off. If words are no longer available, the teacher can create a new lesson link.
The website looks out of date or something will not load.
Reload with an internet connection. If needed, close and reopen the tab. Clearing site data removes saved progress. If the problem continues, email us your browser version and the page address.
